Yes, general category students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of society are eligible for some scholarships.

How many types of government scholarships are there?

A government scholarship can be broadly categorized into three, a merit-based scholarship, a means-based scholarship, or a merit-based scholarship with a combination of means and merit.

Can a student avail more than one govt scholarship?

Students cannot be eligible for two or more government scholarships at the same time, which is an important condition of most government scholarships. Depending on the scholarship, this condition may vary. Scholarships may be applied for as many times as students are eligible, but one can be claimed at a time. The students are advised to read the respective scholarship guidelines to better understand the process.
