Reduction of trade margins on cardiac and anti-diabetic drugs: The central government is ready with a list of drugs to reduce trade margins. The difference between the price at which manufacturers trade and the maximum retail price (MRP) paid by patients is called the trade margin. Around 60 medicines related to cardiac, hypertension, anti-diabetic, neuropathic pain, epilepsy, and vitamin B12 supplements are likely to see a decline in trade margin. According to rough estimates, more than 5,000 brands of drugs are likely to be affected by the trade margin. – GK
75th Independence Day – Special Medals
75th Independence Day- Special Medals: On India’s Independence Day, August 15, the Central Government presented special medals to the Armed Forces and Armed Police Forces. It is unusual to award such medals once every 25 years. They were last presented on 15 August 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of independence from British rule. The new medal features the Ashoka lion on the obverse and the Ashoka chakra on the reverse.
