NSP Scholarships: List of Government Scholarships for Students [2024-2025]
Specially Abled Students Scholarship – By Dept of Empowerment of PwDs
There are three different schemes under this NSP scholarship:
Scholarship for Top-Class Education
- For: Graduation and Post-Graduation degree or diploma courses
- Amount: ₹5,000/Monthly + ₹5,000/annum
- Additional Benefit: up to ₹2 lakhs Reimbursement
Post Matric Scholarship
- For: Students from Class 12 to Post-Graduation
- Amount: ₹3,000 per month + ₹4,000 per annum
Pre Matric Scholarship
- For: Students from Class 9 and 10
- Amount: ₹1,800 per month + ₹4,000 per annum
General Eligibility Criteria
- Family income below ₹8 lakhs/ annum.
- The scholarships are designed for students with a disability of 40% or more, who must have valid certification as per the Act of 2016.
- No more than two children with disabilities from the same family can receive the benefits of the scheme.
- Half of the scholarships are reserved for girls, ensuring gender inclusivity.
- There is no caste or religious preference, making these scholarships open to all eligible students.
- These scholarships are only for students who are not receiving any other state or central government scholarships or stipends.
PM Uchtar Shiksha Protsahan (PM USP) Yojana – By Department of Higher Education
- For: Students who have completed Class 10 or 12 with 80% aggregate and are pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate courses like engineering or medicine.
- Reservation: 50% of the scholarships are reserved for girls, and 3% are reserved for students from Ladakh.
- Distribution: The scholarship is distributed according to a 3:3:1 ratio across humanities, science, and commerce as per the state examination board.
- Amount: Variable based on the course and institution.
Eligibility Criteria
- 50% aggregate in previous exams.
- Family income below ₹4.5 lakhs/ annum.
- Students must be pursuing their courses at institutions recognized under AICTE.
- Only full-time courses are eligible; distance education or correspondence courses are not entertained.
- If state-level scholarships are availed, this scholarship is not applicable.
National Scholarship Scheme – By the Ministry of Tribal Affairs
- For: Meritorious students from Scheduled Tribes (ST) pursuing Graduation and Post-Graduation
- Purpose: Financial assistance
- Eligibility: Only selected top-class government and non-government institutions specializing in engineering, medical, management, IT, law, or other fields.
Scholarship Benefits:
- ₹2.5 lakhs per annum
- ₹5,000 for books
- ₹3,000 monthly stipend
- One-time benefit: up to ₹45,000 for a computer, laptop, or related accessories
- Family income should not exceed ₹6 lakhs/ annum.
- Students availing of this scholarship are not eligible for any other scholarship at the same time.
National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship – By the Dept of Education and Literacy
- For: Class 9 to 12
- Amount: ₹12,000 per annum
- Eligibility:
- Maintain a 55% academic record.
- Family income should not exceed ₹3.5 lakhs/ annum.
All India Council for Technical Edu. (AICTE) Scholarship
The government offers three different NSP scholarships under this scheme, applicable for technical diploma and degree students.
Pragati Scholarship
- For: Girl students pursuing technical diploma or degree courses
- Amount: ₹50,000 per annum
- Eligibility: Family income below ₹8 lakhs
Saksham Scholarship
- For: Specially abled students with a minimum of 40% disability
- Amount: ₹50,000 per annum
- Eligibility: Family income below ₹8 lakhs
SWANATH Scholarship
- For: Orphans or children of central paramilitary forces martyrs, or those whose parents died due to COVID-19
- Amount: ₹50,000 per annum
- Eligibility: Family income below ₹8 lakhs
UGC Scholarships – NSP Scholarships
Ishan Uday Scholarship
- For: Students of Class 12 or those who have completed equivalent courses from North East India and have been admitted to the first year of a UG degree program in an eligible university/college/institution within India
- Amount: ₹8,000 per month
- Eligibility: Family income below ₹4.5 lakhs
National Scholarship for Post-Graduation
- For: Students pursuing their 1st year or 1st semester of a post-graduation.
- Amount: ₹15,000 per month
- Eligibility: Age below 30, full-time course
North Eastern Council Scholarship
- For: Students from North East India pursuing diploma, degree, post-graduation, MPhil, or PhD on a regular basis, not part-time or distance
- Amount: ₹30,000 per year
- Eligibility:
- Must be a permanent resident of North East India
- Family income up to ₹8 lakhs/ annum.
Central Scholarship of Top-Class Education for SC Students – By the Dept of Social-justice
- For: Students from Scheduled Castes (SC) in private institutions
- Amount: Up to ₹2 lakhs per annum (₹86,000 in the first year, ₹41,000 in subsequent years)
Eligibility:
- Must apply in the first year only; no fresh applications are accepted in the second or third year.
- This scholarship can be renewed in the following years.
- 30% of the scholarships are reserved for girl students.
- Family income should not exceed ₹8 lakhs/ annum.
Financial support for children of Beedi and Mine Workers – By the Ministry of Labor and Employment
- Pre & Post-Matric – NSP scholarships
- For: Students whose parents work in certain industries (contract or home-based)
- Amount: ₹1,000 to ₹25,000 per student per year
Eligibility:
- Parents must work in industries like Beedi, Mines, or Cine Workers within the last 6 months.
- Total monthly family income from all sources should not exceed ₹10,000.
- Students must be pursuing full-time or regular education; correspondence courses are not eligible.
- Students must have cleared their qualifying examination on the first attempt, but those promoted to the next class are also eligible.
PM Yasasvi Scholarship for Other Backward Classes – By the Dept of Social Justice and Empowerment of BC’s
- For: Students from Class 9 to college (applicable for OBC, EBC & DNT categories)
Scholarship benefits
- Tuition Fees: Up to ₹2lakh per year for private institutions
- Living Expenses: ₹3,000 per month.
- Books and Stationery: ₹5,000 per year.
- One-time benefit: up to ₹45,000 for a computer, laptop, or related accessories
